User profiles

In the community collaborate members in different roles depending on their educational interests, and they are actively integrated in various activities and quality assurance processes for the catalog of collections of Open Educational Resources.

  • Guest profile. Generally the interest of these users of the catalog is only for self-use or reference. This status is for users of the catalog who do not have a login account on the system, for details see [How to get Involved].

    Type of privileges in the website: Free use of the catalog of OER, also possibility to browse by subject area of interest and specific searches through the options provided by the system.

  • Collaborator profile. The interest of these users is to offer in the catalog with their time, experience and knowledge in a subject area of expertise. This status is for registered users in the system, for details see [How to get Involved].

    Type of privilege in the website: It has the privileges of role "guest" and through his record is a member of the educational community. The system generates automatically a custom page that can be shared with other members, the user may suggest new OER providers, also suggest and make specific reference to new OER, describe and evaluate suggested OER by other members of the community, and to adopt and share its experience of use and incorporation of OER in learning activities.

  • Auditor profile. Specifically, the user shares his time, knowledge and experience to evaluate OER from the community members through a peer review process. Peer assessment helps ensure that OER in the catalog are reliable and appropriate for the subject area and to the educational level suggested for use.

    Type of privilege in the website: It has the privileges of role "collaborator" and its participation allows assessment of the educational use of the suggested OER to the catalog. It’s an expert user that supports guidance through comments and recommendations on the use of OER.

  • Cataloger profile. It’s an expert user with a specialization in cataloging and classification in libraries and information centers. Its role is to verify consistency of information and classify the descriptive card through on a hierarchical scheme of knowledge based on international standards.

    Type of privilege in the website: It has special privileges in the system, and its participation helps ensure proper categorization and classification of suggested OER to the catalog.

  • Reviewer profile. It’s a language expert user whose role is to verify the writing, grammar and spelling on the descriptive information card, about suggested OER to the catalog.
